PINK!                                         A Photo Essay
Whether you glance at the streets or vehicles, it's hard to miss the abundance of pink flags and massive posters in Hyderabad these days. It sounds like Barbie fever is not over yet, and Hyderabad’s turning its city into Barbie land? Well, I wish but that’s not the case here. The pink overload is because of the Telangana TRS party campaigning for state elections. While it's common for a major political party like TRS/BRS to paint the town in their campaign colour, what draws the attention here is their choice of colour. Pink is stereotypically linked to femininity and vulnerability, making it an unconventional choice for symbolizing power in our minds. So for a party this powerful using this pink colour is something to think about. While there's no proof that their selection of pink as the party colour aimed to challenge stereotypes, they may unknowingly be reshaping perceptions of the colour.
